		<description>Good list, especially #4, #6 and #10. 

Quick note on #10 though, as Marcia says, if the output matches all the extra hours then that's not a bad thing but, if you have to work 12 hours every day just to keep up with everyone else then there are severe issues.</description>

I caution, however, calling these behaviors signs of incompetence. eg in the case of #10, I think it boils down to output. If they work long hours and output nothing, then I might agree.  In the case of #9, bringing in the skills to solve the problem is not a bad thing.  I am not sure that I would label them all as incompetence. 

A few weeks ago I wrote an article entitled - &lt;a href="http://bullseyeresumes.blogspot.com/2007/12/is-your-boss-really-jerk-or-just.html" rel="nofollow"&gt;Is Your Boss Really a Jerk or Just Misunderstood&lt;/a&gt;.  It actually just exposes some of the possible rationale behind some of these behaviors and puts the emphasis on the employee and how to handle this kind of boss.</description>
